Ecotonoha by Josh Rubin

ecotonoha

A brilliant little future conscious design project-- Ecotonoha was created by Yugo Nakamura, ( MONO*CRAFTS ) for NEC. By adding words as leaves you collaborate to nurture a virtual tree. As the virtual tree grows, NEC will plant real trees on Kangaroo Island in Australia. Over 600 trees have been planted so far.

Method founders Eric Ryan and Adam Lowry have been on a 5 year quest to bring design and sustainability to the home care industry. Element Skateboards furthers the evolution of the skateboard deck with their new Push Construction Positive Negative Series. The Push Deck is a skateboarding paradox. Lighter than any other deck, it's also more durable. This innovative structure is a result of the combination of the responsiveness and power of carbon fiber with the durability of Element's own featherlight helium construction (i.e. there's air inside). The...

French designer Mathieu Lehanneur (featured in the recent Design and the Elastic Mind exhibit) has taken the locavore concept to a practical level with his Local River exhibit at Artists Space in Manhattan. The concept is a small aquarium stocked with freshwater fish that feeds off a small vegetable patch. The plants extract nutrients and purifies the water for the fish; similar techniques are...
The Future Network: The Magazine
There's something refreshingly compelling about The Future Laboratory's latest publication, simply titled The. A "younger sibling" to their house publication Viewpoints, the quarterly is a straightforward look (read: no cheesy color-themed layouts) at current products, people, ideas and events, serving as a cultural thermometer aimed at an audience of marketers, creative directors, designers and the like. While the unfussy approach of The is part...
